There’s nothing like a little off-road adventure to get your heart reflecting on the past year and dreaming about the one ahead all at once. Long walks in the warm sun, hot tea at hockey games, and ATV rides in the mud were the perfect way to end 2015 and begin 2016.
This year was filled with songs of palm trees and melodies of memories blending together on the Florida breeze. High-pitch giggles, wide smiles, deep chuckles, and little country towns.
Every moment a memory and every memory marinated in adventure.

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.”
It’s a new year. The time when people make plans. Diet plans, fitness plans, travel plans, financial plans, journal plans, reading plans, and just about any kind of plan you can imagine.
Recently I eavesdropped on a conversation about plans and resolutions for the new year and I heard an older wiser woman say her new years plan was to not make plans, but to go wherever God leads.
Plans for 2016: Don’t make plans. Set goals and work toward them Follow God wherever He leads me. Trust Him when life doesn’t unravel blueprint perfect, and treasure every moment as it becomes a memory.
